Update regarding Covid-19 ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because of the pandemic many people have not been able to have their annual appointment and we have experienced a high number of emergency calls. During January I will be attending as many emergency calls (blocked/smoking chimneys, post chimney fire inspections!) as possible. Please call me for details on Emergency Slots available evenings and weekends in January. DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE YOUR FIRE IF YOU SUSPECT A BLOCKAGE.

WE HAVE A COVID PROCEDURE IN PLACE:

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING IN LIGHT OF COVID-19, these measures are to protect ALL my customers

1, if ANYONE in the household develops symptoms let me know asap: we must postpone the appointment.

2, I will be hand sanitizing regularly, wearing gloves and using clean dustsheets.

3, Please clear the hearth and approx 2m sq area immediately in front of the fireplace.

4, Please remain out of the room while I am working. Please respect 2m social distancing.

5, I can take payment by BACS (details in invoice), card or cheque only.

Many of my customers fall into the vulnerable category and I wish to protect them as much as possible while Chimney Sweeping which is an essential safety service.

IN THE CASE OF CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM:

1) If your CO alarm is beeping constantly YOU ARE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. Get everyone out of the building immediately.

2) Contact the fire brigade. They have safety equipment that will allow them to enter the building and safely extinguish the fire, then ensure there is no CO remaining before you re-enter your home.

3) do not re-light your fire until you have had an inspection by a professional Chimney Sweep.

IN THE CASE OF CHIMNEY FIRES:

1) DO NOT THROW WATER ON A FIRE. CONTACT THE FIRE BRIGADE!

2) if you have a stove, close all the air inlets to cut off the oxygen supply.

3) if you have an open fire apply damp sand/earth. DO NOT THROW WATER DIRECTLY ONTO FLAMES.

4) Even if you feel you have been able to stop the chimney fire, always contact the fire brigade who will be able to detect hot spots and any continued smouldering that is otherwise undetectable.

5) Chimney Fires are usually a result of creosote or severe soot build-up. At the very least this will need to be removed but it is essential your chimney sweep can inspect the chimney for any damage that occurred during the chimney fire, and advise if any repairs are required before you can use the chimney again.
